Perry Alexander Peddle 19482022

Perry Alexander Peddle
1948-2022
The family of Perry
Peddle are very sad to announce his sudden passing on December 20,
2022 in Centreville, NS at the age of 74. Perry was born and raised in
Whitney Pier in Sydney, NS, the son of Tommy and Margaret (MacLeod).
He had many memories of spending time with his cousins, especially
Cheryl (Munroe) MacDonald, whom he loved like a sister. As a youth he
was active in the Cadet program and eventually joined the Reserves. He
married the girl next door, Janice (Neville) and she survives him as
his wife of nearly 55 years. As a young couple together they raised
three children, Margaret (Gordon) Gillan (Grand Bay, NB), Stuart
(Meghan) Peddle and Wendy (Bruce) Spears (Halifax). Perry was a
steelworker for most of his career, working his way up in Sysco to
Superintendent of Safety and then ending his steel plant career in the
accounting office. He was dedicated to lifelong learning, starting
university later in life and completing his Bachelor of Business
degree at UCCB. He was so proud to graduate alongside his son, Stuart.
He dedicated many hours to the Canadian Institute of Management (CIM)
as a professional member. Perry also remained active as a hockey
player and coach in the Cape Breton Minor Hockey League. Although
often remembered as quiet, his passion really showed rink-side,
especially as a coach and from his season ticket seats for the Cape
Breton Oilers. For a time, he was very involved in the Harness Racing
community at Tartan Downs, co-owning two horses with his good friend,
Johnny Crane. He was also an avid curler and member of the Sydney
Curling Club. Running an errand with Dad in Sydney was never a quick
affair. He would often run into people who knew him and wanted to talk
as he was a compassionate listener and genuine friend. Upon
retirement, he and Janice relocated to Centreville in the Annapolis
Valley to spend more time with family and enjoy the warmer weather for
a longer golf season. They were very close to Janice’s
sister and her husband, Pat and Darryl Crossman and had many happy
adventures together. He continued to work as an accountant at
Dykleland Lodge in Windsor and then as a Commissionaire at Kings
Riverside Court, Kentville. He loved his three grandsons and was so
proud that Daniel and Peter Spears followed in his path as Cadets and
that Ian Gillan is an avid hockey player and fan. He is survived by
his wife, three children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews,
who were such an important part of his life. He is predeceased by his
parents and brothers, Lester, Marvin (in childhood) and Frank. We
invite you to join us for his celebration service on Thursday,
December 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville,
NS. If you feel it in your heart, donations in memory of Perry, may be
made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your
choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online condolences and
inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
