Obituary
(Rosetta) Pearl Cyba (Price)
September 7, 1934 – December 5, 2022
It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of “Our Family’s Angel”.
Pearl is survived by and dearly missed by her husband, Syl Cyba; daughters: Pamela (Alan) Lavoie; Melinda (Stephen) Cyba-Ambrose; brothers-in-law: Ron Cyba & Ed Sebulsky; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren & numerous cherished family members & precious lifelong friends.
Pearl was the daughter of Charles Edward Price II & Ruby Rosetta Johnstone of Radisson, SK. She was predeceased by her parents & all of her siblings; brothers: Jack (John Cecil) & Teddy (Charles Edward III); sisters: Ruth Price, Harriett Price & Lillian Sebulsky; father & mother-in-law, Joseph & Helen Cyba; sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Steve Pryma; sister-in-law, Peggy Cyba; as well as many beloved family members.
Mom’s dedication, devotion, love for her family flowed endlessly & was a proud farm wife. She was also a well-respected member of her community & volunteered countless hours. Her cooking & baking skills were second to none. She shared her tasty creations willingly and lovingly with all that were welcomed into her home. Her hospitality extended well beyond her family. You never left without being offered a meal, snack & a little something for the road home! If you were lucky, you had the opportunity to enjoy her famous handmade perogies, cabbage rolls, canning & homemade pies.
Mom & Dad took great pride in their gardens. Vegetables, flowers, fruit trees and the farmyard were tended to over countless hours with the utmost love and care.
Our mother was very well known and admired for her intricate skills which included sewing authentic costumes for Ukrainian Dance Clubs and other local groups. Mom’s talents were endless. Not only did she have a lifetime love of sewing, her skills also included knitting, crocheting and embroidery. Many of her remarkable projects were shared lovingly with her family and friends across Canada. Her generosity and “gift of giving” was an integral part of her life and continued up to and including her final days in Shellbrook. She donated thousands of hand-made quilts & toques to Project Linus, Ronald McDonald House, Saskatoon Cancer Clinic as well numerous other organizations. Her final gifts that she was still working on while she was in care in Shellbrook were graciously given to staff members and the Emergency Department of the Shellbrook Hospital. Those that needed some extra help in keeping warm welcomed Mom’s kindness.
To honour Mom’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. We ask that you celebrate her memory by showing kindness to others. Thank you for your understanding.
Our family would like to express our deepest heartfelt thanks to Dr. Adebayo as well as nurses, caregivers and staff at the Shellbrook Hospital, for providing the highest quality of care, dedication & love to our dearest Mother (she was never with strangers).
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to: Shellbrook & District Foundation, Box 70, Shellbrook, SK S0J 2E0. To leave a condolence, please visit www.eternalmemoriesfuneral.ca. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Trevor Watts Funeral Director.
