Obituary of Pauline (Boone) Kennedy, Dominion
It is with profound sadness that the family of Pauline Kennedy announce her peaceful passing on September 8, 2022, at the age of 89 years. She was born on January 26, 1933, daughter of the late Stanley and Mamie (MacPhee) Boone.
Pauline is survived by her brother Francis (Lil) Boone of Alberta, daughters Anne (Regis) McDonald of Marion Bridge, Mary (Duncan) MacQueen of Glace Bay, and son Robbie (Jo-Ann) McKinnon of Glace Bay; grandchildren Vanessa (Jarrad) Johnston, Angela (Ricky) Somers, Krista (Mike) MacLean, Mark (Tanya) McKinnon, Katie (Adam) Krewenki, Jessica (Terrance) MacNeil, and Laura (Daniel) Oldford.
Pauline is also survived by seven great-grandchildren all of whom affectionately called her “Big Nana” and many extended family and friends.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents, first husband Edmund McKinnon (1953-1958), second husband David Kennedy (1961-2006), son Stan Kennedy, sister Rosemarie (Bernie), and brothers Adrian (Mary) and Gilbert (Ann).
Pauline spent most of her life living on Neville Street in Dominion where she always welcomed family and friends with a hug, a hot cup of tea and a “lunch.” She was loved by her Neville Street gang and missed them when she left. She was a woman of strong catholic faith and over the years served the church as a reader, eucharistic minister, and religious educator. Pauline loved her travels throughout Europe and the United States, including a beautiful Alaskan cruise with her family in 2017. She was fun loving, classy and stylish, compassionate, loving and a natural caregiver who adored her family. Pauline was one of a kind and we will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank the VON (especially Marie), the staff at MacGillivray Guest Home, and the staff at Waterford Heights for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a charity of your choice in memory of Pauline.
There will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with her family relative Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery and a reception will take place in the church hall.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Glace Bay. On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
‘Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord.’
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Pauline
