Obituary of Paul Gillespie
The sudden passing of Malcom “Paul” Gillespie of Doaktown, NB, husband of Catherine “Kay” (Jonah) Gillespie, occurred on April 25, 2022 at Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born on July 18, 1941 in Blackville, NB, he was the son of the late Maxwell and Guila (Johnson) Gillespie. Paul was a woods worker and a saw filer for many years at the Russell and Swim Mill and Blackville Lumber. Paul served as a councillor for the Village of Doaktown for 33 years.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Paul is survived by his children, Paul Douglas, Shawna Lyons (Dale); grandchildren, Paula Gillespie, Austin Gillespie, Caleb Gillespie and Brodie Robichaud; sisters, Wendy Betts (Jeff), Shelley Sullivan (Herb), Sharon Jagoe (Edward); brothers, Dewey (Lois), Gary (Marlene) Gillespie; several nieces and nephews; and his furry friend, Damon.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sisters, June Jagoe, Kim Gillespie, Donna Dumont, Lois Underhill; brother, Darrel.
Masks will be required at all services as per the family’s request. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Miramichi Valley Chapel on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2 pm. Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery (Clay Hill), Doaktown. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to IWK or to the Parish of Ludlow and Blissfield. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
