It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paula Kosciuw, formerly Paula Derbyshire, nee Paula Mary Cabrini Hickey. Paula passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 18th 2022. Paula is the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Hickey, of Holyrood, Newfoundland. She moved to Leamington in 1963, where she worked at the Sunparlour Co-op for years. Paula met and married the late Guye Derbyshire in 1966. Together they enjoyed raising a family and building a family business until his passing in 1991. Paula continued her journey, and in 1995, married the late John Kosciuw (2021). Together they enjoyed spending time with their extended families, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paula is the loving mother of Annette (Denis) Mamo, and Neil (Cynthia) Derbyshire, and cherished grandmother of the late Bryce Mamo, Bailey Mamo, Hanna Derbyshire, and Garison Derbyshire. Loving sister of Barbara Whitten, Claire Hickey, Francis Hickey, Mary Hickey, and the late Joseph Hickey. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and her extended family. Paula spent many years teaching at Montessori Pre School and caregiving at the Sun Parlour Nursing Home in Leamington. The family would like to thank Dr. Simpson, Erie Shores Hospital, Dr. Rukavina, and Iler Lodge Staff for the excellent care they provided for her over the years. Memorial visiting will be held at Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) Thursday from 6-8 pm. Paula will be laid to rest at the Erie Cemetery in Wheatley following a private family service. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor/Es.
