Paul Tsibidis, known by many as “Paul the Greek” and “Papou” by his grandchildren.
Born in Velies, Greece on April 20 1945, he immigrated from Greece to Canada and at 13 and a half years old, he opened his first restaurant in Brockville. Later, he decided to move to Goose Bay, NL with his wife and 2 children where he resided the rest of his life and passed away there on June 17, 2022.
Paul is survived by his wife Joanna Tsibidis and his children Nick Tsibidis and Dimitria Szydlo (Richard). Cherished Papou to his grandchildren Alexis McLean (TJ), JP Szydlo, Stephanie Tsibidis and Kosta Tsibidis. He will be sadly missed by his sister Flora Paloukos (Tasso) and by nieces and nephews Kosta (Monica), Patty (Mike) and Jamie (Dean).
Predeceased by his mother Demetria, by his brother Jimmy, and by his niece Samantha.
Mourned by many close friends and the community at large of Happy Valley – Goose Bay, Labrador.
Paul was a legend and a pioneer in the business world of happy valley goose bay. He was extremely generous and compassionate , and always had a smile. With his kind and open heart, he treated strangers as if they were family.
To our family, he was the core and the glue that held us all together. His love was infectious and constant. Paul will always live through the hearts of everyone he touched.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 3-5 pm. A funeral service for Paul will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11 am at the Hellenic Community Greek Orthodox Church, 206 Perth Street, Brockville. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada will be gratefully acknowledged.
