Patrick Joseph Victor Daly
March 26, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Joseph Victor Daly of Bedford, Nova Scotia, who died suddenly on March 26th, 2022 in Whistler, British Columbia. He was 72 years of age. Patrick was born and raised in Beaconsfield on the West Island of Montreal to parents Kathleen (Blake) and Victor Daly. He is survived by his loving wife and adventure partner of 37 years, Lorraine (Lori) Patterson, his two children, Liam and Andrea, Ottawa; his five younger siblings, Michael (Debbie), Charleston, SC; Kathleen Meyer (Bill), Burlington, ON; Shelagh (Bill Coon), Guelph, ON; Timothy (Melissa) San Bernadino, CA; Moira (Andrew Kwass), Burlington, VT; his mother-in-law Glorena Patterson, Bedford; his sister-in-law Carol Patterson (Bob McKim), Bedford; and his many nieces and nephews. A proud Saint Mary’s University football alumnus who came to Halifax and stayed, but first made a few detours around the world. Pat coached racers in Labrador and Rossland, BC before joining the Canadian National Women’s ski team as an assistant coach, representing Canada at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. He then served as head coach of the ski racing program in Aspen, Colorado. While Pat’s first love was his family, skiing came a very, very close second. A Ski Wentworth fixture since his university days, Pat was proud to have nurtured multiple generations of young ski racers over the years. He was never happier than when it was snowing; his departure for the ski hill soon to follow. Pat was a longtime member of the Ashburn Golf & Country Club, where he served as Club Captain of several winning Rosebowl teams, as well as a Member of the Board. A well-established commercial real estate broker for 40 years, he had holdings in Burnside and across Nova Scotia, as well in New Brunswick, with various business partners, having gotten his start with Atlantic Trust and Marcil Trust in Halifax. His not-so-leisure activity list also included fly fishing, boating, ATVing and acting as a part-time cabana boy. Along with his hobbies, Pat collected a legion of many friends whom he loved dearly. He never missed a chance to catch up over a few beers with the neighborhood gang and share jokes and his infamously long-winded tales of mischief. Pat lived life to the absolute fullest, working hard and playing harder. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, please see the Dartmouth Funeral Home website for details.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Patrick Joseph Victor Daly March 26 2022..
