Obituary
Patricia Horton
Georges River
Patricia Ann Horton, age 68, surrounded by her devoted husband and daughters, passed peacefully at her home in Georges River, Nova Scotia on Thursday, August 11, 2022. She was born on June 11, 1954 in Walkerton, Ontario to Kathleen and Ron.
A loving and supporting daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Patricia’s life was her family. Present, patient, compassionate and kind, she always made time to listen, shared in all our joys and sorrows, and saw only the good in everyone she knew. A passionate animal lover and advocate, she believed that all are deserving of our empathy and care. She taught us to be a living demonstration of what we believe in, and that the best way to bring about change is to unite and stand strong with others who believe as we do. Her warm heart, playful spirit and beautiful eyes lit up every room. She loved music and dancing. One of her favourite songs being ‘Strength of A Woman’ by Shaggy. She loved art and design, Scandinavian specifically. She was a collector of typewriters and guitars, and loved treasure hunting at garage sales, thrift stores and antique shops yet one of her favourite mottos was, “the best things in life aren’t things”.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband Stephen, daughters Lana, Faith and Jamie, son Lyle, daughter-in-law Alice, daughter-in-law Dina, son-in-law Mark, granddaughter Mikaya, her sisters Valerie and Dixie and niece Amber. All of these she loved deeply.
In honour of Patricia’s wishes, there will be no services held. In a private ceremony, her family will release her ashes into the ‘arms of gold’, Bras d’or Lake; the view she so admired from her home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
