Olive Annie Riehl, 88, of Stratford and formerly of Mitchell passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Beloved wife and best friend of the late Donald F. Riehl (2012). Dear mother of Michael, Bruce and James Riehl. Loving grandmother of Kristen, Christopher and Benjamin. Cherished great grandmother of Ivry, Hudson and Harmony. Dear sister of Ruth Laing and Ina Laidlaw (Bill). Dear sister-in-law of Barbara Jefferson, Betty Fountain and Audrey Dale. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents John and Nettie Jefferson, brothers John (Norma) and Norman, sisters Mary Chessell (Bill), Margaret Cleland (Bruce), Eva Laing (Gordon), Laura LaForge (Charles) and brothers-in-law Bob Laing, Wally Fountain and Don Dale.
Olive taught public school in Stratford and area. She was a former member of Sebringville United Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Huron-Perth Presbytery Representative, member of the Homebuilders Couple’s Club and Emmanuel Ladies Fellowship. She was active in the Sebringville Women’s Institute, Hillside Nursing Home Auxiliary, March of Dimes and 4H. She enjoyed curling, lawn bowling and playing cards with friends and neighbours.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment in Fullarton Evangelical Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Avondale United Church, Stratford would be appreciate and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
