We, the family of Norman Alexander MacAulay, regret to announce his passing on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born September 7, 1935, in Catalone, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Florence (Adams) MacAulay.
Norman resided with his sister, Isabel for his entire life and he was more like a brother to Isabel’s children, more so than an uncle. After Isabel’s passing, Norman continued to reside in the family home with his nephews, John and Darryll.
Norman is survived by his nieces, Florence, Norma, Joan, Diane, Glenda, Marjorie, Kaye, Norma Lee and Barb and nephews, John, Allison, Victor and Darryll.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, Norman was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Florence (Adams) MacAulay and sisters, Edna MacKeigan and Isabel Hall. He was also predeceased by his niece, Flora and nephews, Calvin, Wayne, Aulay, Malcolm, Donnie, John and Art.
A private family service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment will take place in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone. Although the service is private, you are welcome to view the service on Friday, January 28 at 11 a.m. on FaceBook Live by visiting the Sydney Memorial Chapel FaceBook page or you can attend the graveside service at 12:30 p.m. Covid-19 protocols will be followed. Double vaccination, ID and masks are mandatory.
We, the family, would like to give our sincere thanks to the paramedics, the staff in the Emergency Department and ICU Department at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kindness and professional care.
Memorials may be made to St. James Presbyterian Church, Loch End Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
