1948 – 2022
The family announces with sorrow his passing on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the age of 74 years at Extendicare Timmins.
He is predeceased by his wife Bertha, his parents Carl and Virginia Johns, and his sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Joe Krznaric.
He is survived by his brother Gordon (Margaret) Johns, nieces Shelley (David) Thomas, Shannon Johns, nephew Steven Johns, great nieces Taryn (Kevin) Brownell, Aleah Thomas, and Daria Thomas. Norm is also survived by Leo, Dolores and Alicyn Labelle and Anthony Tegel. He will be sadly missed by the Delost and Deleurant families.
Norman had a 32-year career with the Timmins Board of Education and District School Board Ontario Northeast where he taught at Coronation, Mattagami, Pinecrest and W Earle Miller Public Schools. As a life-long learner and an avid reader, Norm was devoted to teaching and sharing his knowledge with students.
The family would like to thank Dr. DiTullio, Dr. Vaithilingam, Dr. Gillies, and the staff of the Mattagami River Unit of Extendicare, especially Valerie and Karen, for the exceptional care given to Norman.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 19th, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow in the Lessard-Stephens Reception Centre. As per the family’s request, the wearing of masks will be in place. Remembrance donations to TDH Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
