Norman Alan Rattray 2022

Passed away, with family by his side, on June 28, 2022 in his 96th year. Predeceased by Joan, his beloved wife of 65 years. Loving father to David, Janet and Anne Buck (Stephen). Proud Grandpa to Blair (Jamie), Blake (Brittany); Julia (Babak), Alyson (Simon), Colleen (Paul); Adam, Ian, Cameron. Great grandfather to Cadence, Aubree, Lacie, Denzel, Kasen. Norm will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Evelyn Nugent. Norm joined Confederation Life in 1946, following war time service in the Royal Canadian Navy. He completed 37 years in the Mortgage Investments Department, first in Vancouver, then in the Quebec and Ontario branches. In 1977, he was appointed Assistant Vice President. He became Director of Mortgage Investments in 1981, responsible for Canada and US. He was appointed Investment Vice President of Mortgages in 1983. Norm was very proud of his Scottish heritage and attended several Rattray Clan Reunions in Scotland. His cottage in Bala, Muskoka was his special place to be. His father purchased land and built the cottage over 100 years ago and it remains a special place for the family. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, where he resided for the last three and a half years. The family will always be grateful for the exceptional care he received. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 27 from 7-9 pm at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto. Celebration of Life will take place at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, 1585 Yonge Street, Toronto, on Thursday, July 28 at 11:30 am. Reception to follow.
