Norma May Kersell Saturday June 4th 2022

Norma May Kersell (nee Grummett) passed away June 4, 2022 at the Olds Hospital in her 96th year.
Born August 21, 1926 in Brantford, Ontario where she grew up, becoming a young woman during the WWII era. Norma went to work at STELCO before completing High School. She became known as “Lock Washer Grummett”; yes there is a story behind that! Through the years, her secretarial skills led her into office administrator positions at the University of Guelph, and two regional hospitals in Manitoba. In the early 1950’s, she met Ivan Kersell, a young man aspiring to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force. They were married December 29, 1951 while Ivan was on leave. Together they raised a family of three daughters and the family dog, Tippy. Norma loved sewing outfits for her daughters, cooking and baking, being actively involved with her church, had a love for horses and enjoyed musical performances. She encouraged her daughters to develop their musical talents and supported their career choices. Later in life, she became an avid sports fan. Her family meant everything to her; she loved it when everyone could get together. Extended family included supporting overseas foster children. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Ivan; her parents Guy and Daisy (Ginn) Grummett; her sister Jean (Grummett) Muir and brother-in-law Alex Muir; her brother Earl Grummett and sister-in-law Gladys (Mallison) Grummett; her nephew Gary (Everill) Muir. She will be greatly missed by the Catolico and David families in the Philippines. Norma will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Brenda Kersell, Linda (Sam) Bossler, Stephanie (Simon) Larouche; grandchildren Graeme (Amanda), Robert, Karl (Stephanie); step-grandchildren Dan, Kara (Adrian), Lisette (Mark), & Tammy (Vince); 3 great-grandchildren; 8 great step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Norma will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Canadian Cancer Society or Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Seasons Encore and the Olds Hospital for the loving care and support Norma received. Condolences may be made or viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
