Norma Anna Proud Gorveatt (nee Toombs)
1929-2022
Norma passed peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the
Queen Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by family.
Born July 26, 1929 in Darlington, PEI, she is the
daughter of the late Florence Ramsay and Raymond Walton Toombs.Wife of
the late Ralph Proud (1991) and the late Arnold Gorveatt (2005). She
is survived by two children; Donald Proud (Judi) , Gordon Proud
(Judy), grandchildren; Melissa and Andrew Christensen, Noel, Severin
(SinThia), Caitlin (Chuck McCannon), Jake, Erica (Josh
Shepard), Chelsea (Brad Rathbun), Jeffrey Proud; nine great
grandchildren; step-daughters; Faye (Wayne Ford), Arlene (Calvin
MacQuarrie), Joyce (Randy McLeod) and their families. She was
predeceased her sisters, Eleanor, Muriel, Dorothy and brother Elwin,
daughter, Marsha Christensen and great granddaughter Gabrielle
Proud.
Norma had a prominent career in the
automotive industry and served many roles in her community. She will
be dearly missed by family and friends.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home. No
visiting by request. The funeral service will be held in the funeral
home chapel on Thursday, April 21st at 11:00 a.m. Interment
to follow in Sherwood Cemetery.
