Norah Warkentin 2022

February 3, 1936 – April 29, 2022
Following a sudden deterioration in her health, Norah June Warkentin, of Gillies Lake and Owen Sound, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2022 with her husband of 63 years, Richard (Dick) W. Warkentin, at her side. Norah loved and was loved by her family and friends. Norah became a Registered Nurse at Kingston General Hospital. She adored babies, developed a passion for knitting and baking and her pies were legendary. Her sense of humour often revealed itself in silly pranks. She was tenacious in fighting her way back from several cancers. In early retirement, Dick and Norah travelled and she delighted in meeting new people. Later they spent most of their time at their cottage on Gillies Lake where she loved to swim and tend her garden. Predeceased by parents Prof. James and Florence Campbell and her twin brother James Campbell. Survived by her husband and 3 children: Susan Warkentin of Owen Sound (Chris Webb), Richard H.J. Warkentin of Lansing, NY (Dawn Kleeschulte) and John Warkentin of Melbourne, Aus.; and 4 grandchildren: Claire and Ethan Webb, Lydia Singerman and Spencer Warkentin. Although in declining health for the past 4 years, Norah was lovingly cared for by the dedicated staff at Golden Dawn Senior Citizens’ Home in Lion’s Head. A remembrance for family will be held in the summer. A donation in memory of Norah to your local Alzheimer’s or Cancer support programs would be a lovely tribute.
