Nora’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Norah Alice Byron, (nee Pye) announce her peaceful passing with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at 92 years of age. She was born to Jack and Florence Pye on July 9, 1929, in Lancaster, England. She met her husband Arthur Byron there. They immigrated to Canada together.
Norah was the last surviving member of the Pye family and will forever remain in the hearts of her loving family Michael – Valerie- Viktoria (Port aux Basques, NL) and Sean – Dawn – Matthew – Christopher (Palmerston, Ontario), grandchildren – Alana – partner Kyle, Chase – partner Jennifer, Greatgrandchildren – Riker, Jade, Abigail
Shevaun, Darryl, Ashton, Nikita, Cindy, Clyde, Nicole, Jan, Mike, and family, Nancy, Gary, Junior, Wanda, Jean, Barbara were her closest friends and she regarded them as family.
The outreach residents that Norah met through Dr. Charles L. LeGrow hospital were considered friends by Norah and the time they got to spend together were important to her. The staff that ran the outreach program were mentioned fondly by Norah and important to her.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center for the wonderful care they have given to Norah and all the home support workers over the years. Thanks to Faye Coffin for the final words and to East Haven Funeral Home for their professional services.
Norah Alice Byron was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister to Joan, Kathleen and Jack, aunt to Patricia, Andrew, Michelle, Stephen and friend to many.
Norah loved spending time in the kitchen, she was an excellent cook, creating delicious meals for her family. Norah loved animals and their home always had a family dog. She always had time for a scratch for Cinnamon, Viktoria’s cat. She was a celebrated master weaver and held many different occupations in her lifetime.
A celebration of Norah’s life is planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Outreach Program in Port aux Basques, at Charles L. LeGrow hospital. This program was extremely important to Norah, and she enjoyed every outing and her genuine smiles when returning home was evidence of the joy it brought her.
