It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Nolan William Joseph Gauthier on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital at the age of 78 years.
Beloved husband to Diane (nee Leduc). Loving father to Dan (Nancy) and Stephane (Tania). Dear grandfather to Shelby, Kaily, Cedric, Lucie, Charles, and Sabrina. He is also survived by his brother Norman and his sister-in-law Annette, as well as his nieces Lynn, Karen, Lise, Michelle & Jessica. Nolan is predeceased by his daughter Nathalie (1968), his father Oscar (1974) and Mother Dolores (1998) his father-in-law Ernest Leduc (1995) and his mother-in-law Cecile Leduc (2002) his brother Donald (1996), his brother Gerry (2010) and his niece Darlene (2021) He will be missed by all of his friends & family especially Lionel & Aurore.
Nolan had a passion for the outdoors, riding his ATV, playing the guitar that he taught himself to play. He was very active in different organizations that helped in the community such as Les Chevaliers de Colomb. Starlight Foundation, he volunteered his time at schools and old age homes to play Santa Claus just to see the smile he can put on peoples faces.
The one thing that brought the biggest joy to Nolan was his family. His wife, his sons, and his grandkids were the one thing that always mattered the most to him and that he was so proud of.
A special thank you to all the doctors & nurses at the Civic hospital for all of the excellent care they gave Nolan over the last 5 years. A special thanks to all of his PSW’s, and nurses that came and helped him at home on a daily basis but a special shout out to Andy and Marichu who always went above and beyond.
Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) on Thursday, January 20th from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 55 Appleford Street on Friday at 11am. Please visit the bottom left of this obituary page to RSVP for visitation and/or service and access the funeral livestream link for those who wish to participate virtually (will be available the morning of the funeral).
