Obituary of Nelson Drouillard
DROUILLARD, Nelson Francis
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of the nicest and most loving man, Nelson Francis Drouillard, on April 3rd, 2022 at the age of 79. Although our family is completely heart broken, we take comfort in knowing that he passed away peacefully in his sleep and that he is finally reunited with his soul mate in Heaven, Marianne (2012). Loving father to Daniel (Michelle), David (Muay), and Nicole (Jeff) Colombe. Proud Pépé to Jasper, McKay, Jake, and Amaya. Cherished brother to Anita Levesque (Marcel), JP Drouillard (Germaine) and late Ronald Drouillard (Marie Cassivi). Dearest brother-in-law to the late Jeanette Nyhlen (late Henry), Paul Moison (Mary Ellen), Denise Wylie (Ron), late Robert Moison, Claire Gagnier (late Norm), Yvette Mailloux (Ken), and Yvonne Cortis (late Greg), and special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Nelson was a proud and dedicated teacher for 33 years. He taught at Sainte-Ursule in McGregor for 28 of those years, and he was even bestowed a key to the school in 2017 for his commitment. Not only did he touch the lives of generations of families as their beloved teacher, he also drove the bus for 13 of those years. He also served as a principal for 1 year and was proud that he only took two sick days throughout his entire career. He finished his career as a shop teacher, which combined his love for teaching and carpentry. From a young age, he liked to work with his hands and quickly became a master woodworker building furniture, his unique backyard fence and even built his house with the help of family, students, and even the priest. Nelson also enjoyed spending time with his wife travelling, snowbirding in Florida, and gardening, where he turned his backyard into a sanctuary which was showcased in the Amherstburg Garden Tour. He was the #1 fan to all of his grandchildren’s sports, and always had his famous Banana Cake ready to serve to the team after every game. More recently, he enjoyed visits from family, doing puzzles, and exercising through his daily walks on the trail and his weekly AquaFit classes. He will forever be everyone’s honourary Pépé.
Throughout his life, he was a faithful and devout parishioner of St. Clement’s Church in McGregor, where he took pride in serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Reader, Knights of Columbus Council 2844 member, and Alter Server. He will be remembered for the years he committed to writing the St. Clement’s Parish Centennial Book.
