Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa, Cornwall with her 2 sons & granddaughter at her side on Saturday morning, July 30, 2022.
Nellie Barton (nee Lagroix) of Cornwall, formerly of Alexandria & Maxville. At the blessed age of 101.
Much loved wife of the late William (Bill) Barton. Dearly loved and respected mother of Patrick (Claire) and Daniel (Iris). Also survived by the joy of her life, her only granddaughter, Diane & 3 great-grandchildren. Youngest daughter of the late Napoleon & Julia Lagroix (nee Parker). Predeceased by her sisters, Idella Merkley (late Whitney). Pearl Boisvenue (late Fred), Violet Gamble (late Dr. Donald) and 2 brothers Frederick and Donald (late Aurora) as well as several nieces & nephews.
Nellie was a strong and faithful Christian who devoted hours of her life praying for so many people in distress. Her prayers brought comfort, healing & peace to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love of God, his Holy Mother, Mary and her own family was unparalleled. We have lost the presence of “The Rock” in our family but through her faith, her teaching and her love of God, we know that she will always be with us. Nellie, we know that you have found joy and happiness and eternal life with the Father. You will always survive in our hearts and minds.
At Nellie’s request, friends & family are invited to join in the Sacrifice of the Mass and Holly Eucharist in St. Peter’s Church, 2900 Second St., E., Cornwall on, Friday, August 19 at 11 AM. Interment to follow with her beloved husband, Bill in St. James Cemetery, Maxville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Ontario.
