Neil Eldon Patterson was born October 19, 1937 in Winchester, Ontario to Teresa and Homer Patterson. Neil was one of 12 children and is predeceased by Marjorie, David, Bruce, Ben, Doug, Lois, twins Raymond and Ronald, Esther, Janet, and Eldon. He is survived by his two daughters Jennifer Patterson (Stevens) with husband Scott, and Robyn Patterson (Luong) with husband Hai. Neil’s 6 grandchildren, Tyler (and wife Alexandra), Justin (and finacee Olivia), Kewan, Edan, Kai and Livia.
Neil brought joy, laughter and light to all who knew him. Neil was an absolute people person who took great pride in his family and could be counted on to make friends with a passing stranger. He spoke fondly and often of his family farm and the wonderful people of Eastern Ontario. He worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway before settling in Richmond Hill and marrying Janet. For many years he worked as a crane operator at Ratcliffes of Canada where he eventually retired with immense pride. Above all, Neil was known for his kindness, generosity, and eagerness to help anyone in need. The past 3 years Neil resided at the Houses of Providence where he became the staff favourite. They will remember his laugh and his desire to help others. His daughters will remember a loving father and grandfather.
Funeral Arrangements
A graveside funeral service will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Michael’s Hospital – Providence Healthcare secure3.convio.net/smh/site/SPageNavigator/donate.
