Obituary for Naomi Edith Torrance (née Kobe/Kobayashi)
Torrance, Naomi Edith (née Kobe/Kobayashi) born November 30,1931. She passed away peacefully, on the morning of April 22, 2022. Predeceased by her loving husband Bertram. Mother to Tracy (Dennis), Tyler (Nancy), Scott (Brenda). Grandmother to Kobe, Mae, Eloise and Esther. Beloved sister to Gordon and Ernie. Daughter to Edith and Gordon (Tokutaro).
Born in Toronto, she attended Pape Avenue PS and Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute and worked with Angel and Townsend Insurance Adjusters after graduation. Met Bert at the corner store in Riverdale, with a fun courtship that included judo lessons, dancing and Orr Lake. They were married in 1959, and moved to the burbs. From their home in Scarborough, they raised three children, two dogs, many cats and cared for parents. Bowling and euchre with friends and neighbors. She was devoted to her church. Always active, she loved nature, gardening, fitness and her walks with Bert. She challenged herself in her senior years with swimming, tai chi, cycling, hiking, skating and cross country skiing.
