Nancy Lee Cleveland 2022

Passed away at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice in Cobourg on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022. She leaves behind her loving husband, Don Cleveland and sweet kitty Daisy. Daughter of the late Edwin and Betty Nicholls. Sister-in-law to Douglas and Pip Cleveland, and Eleanor and John Caron. Aunt to Chantelle and Keith, Auntie to Liam, Sophia and Abigaile. Cousins James Wood, Robert Wood, Mark Wood, Stephen Wood, Mark Jones and David Jones. Nan grew up in Peterborough and attended Adam Scott Collegiate. Her father retired from the Police Force and they moved to Brighton to run a Family General Store. She finished school at East Northumberland Secondary School and studied music over the years encouraged by her Dad who played the piano. She loved teaching children and spending time at Presquile Provincial Park. She started working at the Brighton C.I.B.C. A transfer took her to the big town of Cobourg C.I.B.C. where she made many life long friends. This was when she met the Love of her Life, Don, on the night of the big flood, 1980. They travelled to many wonderful places over the years and often enjoyed a night in, playing guitar and piano. If friends and relatives were there, the more the merrier. She still continued her music and after leaving the bank to work for Dr. Ian Revill, Optometrist, starting teaching Music for Young Children classes and private piano lessons at home in the evening. She belonged to several choirs: Northumberland Symphony Orchestra, Sweet Adelines, Women in Harmony, Choral Legacy and Joyfull Noise. She began working with Dr. Linda Cole and Anju Clement for several years before illness forced her to retire for good. Having friends around her, Music and Art and lots of long walks brought her much joy as well as her love of animals. Many thanks to Dr Mulé, Dr. Koneru, Dr. Caldwell, and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Chemo clinic at Northumberland Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit. Cremation with a Celebration of Life to be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Saturday, June 11th from 1 to 4 pm. Those wishing may make a donation to Pancreatic Cancer Canada, Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice, or to a charity of choice.
