Passed away on January 25th, 2022, 13 days shy of her 94th birthday.
For 68 years Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Lashchuk. She leaves to mourn her devoted children Carol (Allen Phillips), Mary Anne (Alex Gyba), Mark and her precious grandsons Stephen Gyba and Simon (Alyson Cadney) Gyba. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ahafia (Reshetylo) and by her sister Pearl (late Jack Meaney). She is survived by her sister Geraldine (late James Hughes) and her nieces and nephews in the Meaney and Hughes families.
Nancy was born in Uhniv, Ukraine and immigrated to Montreal in 1930 when she was 2 years old. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a secretary/bookkeeper in a variety of industries. She actively supported the Montreal Ukrainian Community and served on committees of the Holy Ghost and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parishes, on the Ukrainian Trident Golden Age Club and as a member of St. Andrij the Apostle Ukrainian Catholic Parish.
Visitation will take place at Yves Légaré Funeral Complex on Tuesday February 1, 2022 from 7:00-9:00 PM with a Panachyda at 7:30 PM. Funeral service will take place in the Chapel on Wednesday February 2 at 9:30 AM. Covid measures will be respected. Thank you to the staff of Residence le Vivalis for their compassionate care and for helping her to live in comfort and contentment over the past 4 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation or St. Andrij the Apostle Parish will be gratefully appreciated. May she rest in peace. VICHNAYA PAMYAT.
