N. Jane Rivers (née Booth)
February 21, 1951 – April 24, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Jane passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice after spending a beautiful day in the sunshine surrounded by her loving family and entertained by her very special grandchildren. Jane was the daughter of the late Robert and Joan Booth (Goodfellow), often known as one of the five Booth Girls – Dianne Jacobs (Don), predeceased; Patricia Dawson (Paul); Berta Prelaz (Ed); Cathy Lucchitti (Lou). She was also predeceased by her one brother, David Booth (Sandi). Jane grew up in Erie Beach before marrying Joe Rivers in 1973 and moving to Blenheim and eventually Chatham. She had one son Christopher (Sarah) and was known as grannie to Greyson (8) and Annie (3). She was also much loved as a favourite aunt to countless nieces and nephews. Jane was always very good at math so it came as no surprise that she pursued a successful career as an accountant. She received the Certified General Accountant (CGA) Association Life Member Award for contributing a lifetime body of work benefitting the CGA Association of Ontario. Her lengthy career began in the office at Thompsons in Blenheim and eventually to being a partner at Collins Barrow. Coming full circle, she served as Executive Assistant to Pat F Thompson to the very end. Jane was an organizer – whether planning golf trips to Florida with Sue Dawson and the Golf Girls or running food drives in her own neighborhood. She gave selflessly of her time, expertise and treasure to countless charities and organizations in Blenheim, Ridgetown and Chatham. It was only fitting that her final week was spent at the Chatham-Kent Hospice where she and Joe were recognized for their generosity. The family would like to thank everyone at the Hospice for surrounding both Jane and all of us with their loving care – and in particular, Allison who knew each of us by name and gave us such a warm parting hug. Jane will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know this fiery, passionate, loving redhead. All are welcome at A Celebration of Life for Jane at Willow Ridge Golf & Country Club, 439 Chatham St S, Blenheim, on Sunday, May 1 from 2:00 – 4:00 with a short program at 3:00. We ask that you consider wearing red, as she so often did, in her honor. Donations can be made in Jane’s honor to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, www.alexanderandhoulefuneralhome.ca

Death notice for the town of: Chatham, Province: Ontario
Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Joe’s and Jane’s extended family. Jane was such a loving and vivacious woman and she always made everyone around her feel so happy to be with her. She leaves a loving legacy in her wonderful son and grandchildren.
Jane was one of the original women in leadership at Collins Barrow Baker Tilly. We shared many good times. At one of our partner conferences in BC , she expertly canoed my daughter Andrea over some rapids, while I bumbled along with my son Stephen and almost bumped into a bear. (Andrea is forever grateful that Jane picked her as a canoe buddy.) Pete and Joe had many adventures as the first male spouses at the Collins Barrow conferences.
We will remember her sage and no-nonsense approach to business and her joi de vivre. It is with heavy hearts that we offer our deepest sympathies on your loss.
