Conrad, Myrtle – age 80 of Cow Bay, passed away peacefully at home on December 7th, 2022.
Born in Hilden, Myrtle was a daughter of the late James Trueman and Elizabeth (Rae) Russell.
Myrtle was an elementary school teacher and taught across Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Eastern Passage and Sackville before retiring in 1995. She was a devoted member of the Christ Church of Cow Bay. She was a talented crafter, with many hours spent socializing while working on her tatting and crocheting projects. Myrtle loved passing time in her gardens and relaxing at her cottage. She enjoyed genealogy and loved spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. Despite facing some health complications over the last several years, Myrtle always had a positive attitude and outlook on life.
Myrtle was a wonderful mother to daughter, Janice (Conrad) Higgins; grandmother to Nathan Higgins (Nicole), Brittany Higgins, Melanie Thibodeau (Matt); brothers, Lewis Russell (Shannon), Daniel Russell (Patsy) and Elwood Russell (June); sisters, Bertha Burrill, Shirley (Robert) Webb, Dorothy (Paul) Kennedy, Emma Russell; many nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was the beloved wife of 57 years to late husband, Leonard “Fraser” Conrad. She was predeceased by son, Paul; son-in-law, Walter Higgins; sisters, Ester Kennedy, Merle Pettigrew, Isabelle Nielsen, Irene Patterson, Florence Day; brothers, James Russell, Robert Russell, Leonard Russell, Norman Russell.
Cremation arrangements have taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 18th at 3pm in St. Peter’s Anglican Church Cemetery, 346 Cow Bay Road, with Rev. Cate Ratcliffe officiating.
