Myra Rothman Barovick 2022

Myra Rothman Barovick
(née Hoffman)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our cherished and beloved Mumzie on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of eighty-five. Devoted daughter of the late Tillie and the late Sam Hoffman, Myra was born in Montreal on July 13, 1937, and moved to South Burlington, Vermont in 1983 to marry her Sheyna, Sethie. Myra is survived by the love of her life, Dr. Seth Barovick; by her children, Sheindl Rothman and Jack Rudnicki of Montreal, Michael and Rhonda Rothman of Atlanta, Karen and Murray Diamond of England, and Aviva and Clemens Reuter of Switzerland; her stepchildren, Robin Barovick and Tony Polgar, Beth Barovick and David Saltzman; and by her heart-daughter and her spouse, El and Tim Utting; her grandchildren, Reveena Rothman-Rudnicki – with whom she shared an extra-special bond; Lexi and Reid Rothman; Aurel, Garrick, Lazarus and Grace Diamond, Steven, Andrew and Julia Saltzman; and her great-grandson. Myra is predeceased by her sister, Beth Judy Rosen and nephew, Lorne Rosen. She is survived by her brother, Robert Hoffman and his life partner, Joanna LaPierre; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Jack Wolofsky; her nieces and nephews who considered her like a second mother, Wendy Rosen Applebaum, Sandy Wolofsky, and Lawrence Wolofsky; and by cousins and countless friends whom she loved over many decades and throughout her life.
Our Mumzie lived a creative and generous life filled with joy, colour, courage, and gratitude. Her zest for life was infectious. She truly was the life of the party. Myra was fun, wise, respected, admired, and deeply loved. Her fashion sense was her own. Arts and crafts abounded throughout her life – she sewed, knitted, crocheted, made acrylic “crystals”, and set the table with flare. Even a fruit cup, ‘something good’, and a pot of tea, turned into a party when Myra was there. Mumzie’s motto was NJOY, and she certainly did! It is beyond difficult to imagine a world without our Mumzie and her beautiful blue eyes. We will carry her in our hearts, and she will live on in each of us forever.
It is with immense gratitude that we thank Sharon Cianci, our Guardian Angel with golden wings, who ensured that her “girlfriend” was well-cared for, Drs. Paul Unger and Melissa Brandes for their dedicated care, the amazing extended Hospice at Home Team, Myra’s caregivers, Edith and Justine for their love, care and responsiveness. A heartfelt thanks to our parents’ extraordinary friends and neighbors who have been incredibly helpful, too numerous to name.
Funeral service on Thursday, December 29 at 12:00 noon, at the Ohavi Zedek Synagogue on 188 North Prospect Street, Burlington, VT. Burial at the Hebrew Holy Society cemetery at 319 Patchen Road, South Burlington. Myra requested that people wear purple to her funeral. Shiva at Ridgewood Estates, 5 Lexington Green, South Burlington, VT, on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and Friday at 2:00 p.m. In Myra’s memory, please think of our mum when you wear purple (we know you will) and look for the opportunity to do Random Acts of Kindness (like she often did). Donations in Myra’s memory may be made to the University of Vermont Health Network Home Health and Hospice, (802) 860-4499 ext.: 3812, Temple Sinai, South Burlington, (802) 860-4499 ext. 3812, or to Ohavi Zedek, Burlington, (802) 864-0218.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Myra Rothman Barovick 2022  and hope that their memory may be a source of comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughts and kind words are greatly appreciated.
