The death occurred at Stewart Memorial Home, Tyne Valley on
Monday, August 29, 2022 of Myra Mary Gillis formerly of Arlington aged
84. Myra was born in Freeland on August 12, 1938, daughter of the late
Laughlin and Ida Claire (Bulger) Murphy.
Cherished mother to Carolyn Gillis (Eric MacLean), Elmsdale,
NS; Lisa Cousins, Arlington; Nancy Gillis (Julian Langford), Olympia,
WA; Sandra Gillis, Niagara Falls, ON; Tammy Gillis, Cambridge, MA and
Amy Gillis, St Catharines, ON. Loving grandmother to Bryce Ferguson,
Petawawa, ON; Noéll and Kathleen Cousins, Arlington, Elisa
and Regan Wier, Niagara Falls, ON.
Dear sister to David (Maureen) Murphy, ON, sister in law to
Mary (Neil) MacKay, Kensington; Betty (Leo) Walsh, Hope River; Linda
McClintick, Stratford ; Kay Shaw, Hazelbrook and Marion Gillis,
Summerside.
Myra is also survived by the father of her children Angus
“Bud” Gillis, along with residents and staff of Stewart
Memorial Home which was her extended family the last three and a half
years.
Predeceased by her parents , brothers, Gerard in infancy,
Norbert, Cyril, Linus, Thomas, Alban, Lorne, Gerard and
sister Kathleen.
Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with visiting
hours Thursday 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at St Patrick’s Roman
Catholic Church, Grand River at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in the
Parish Cemetery. In memory of Myra, memorials can be sent to St
Patrick’s Cemetery Fund or Stewart Memorial Trust.
