Obituary of Murray Bray
BRAY, Murray Sherdon died peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine Tuesday morning February 8th, 2022. Murray Bray of Lion’s Head in his 89th year. Cherished father of Richard Bray of Calgary (Marcie) and Patricia Bowes (Steve) of Kincardine. Much loved grandfather of Lee (Sheri), Mike (Kelsie), Scott (Bryn), Lukas (Neve), Carlyanna, Cody and Mikhayla (Brody) and great grandfather of Addison, Nash, Rhett, Adriel, Riley and Hunter. Dear brother of Rob Bray (Gwen) of Florida and Ted Bray (Carmel) of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his brother Bev, son Michael, mother Janet (nee Adams) father Harvey Bray, and the love of his life, Mary Cameron.
As a teenager at age 16, Murray started his career sailing and operated as second mate on a freighter. Following the birth of his first son, Murray left the open water to fulfill his paternal duties. From there, he started a new career with the Ministry of Transportation where he dedicated the next 33 years. Murray was DUNWORKIN’ at 58 (his car license plate) where he retired in “God’s Country.” He enjoyed spending his days cruising the open road with the top down in his red mustang, fishing on Elmer (his boat, co-owner with Uncle Elgin), camping wherever his RV led him and spending time with family and friends. Murray was a lover of cards, the Toronto Blue Jays, hockey, red wine, gardening and indulging in any homemade pies left at his doorstep. At times far in distance but never in heart, Murray always looked forward to his daily phone calls from his brother and best friend, Rob.
Following some health complications, Murray took a leap and moved to Kincardine to be closer to his daughter. Despite his best efforts, he always hoped to get back to the place he loved and called home, Lion’s Head. His presence and sense of humour will be greatly missed by many. To have known him was to love him.

  1. Our deepest condolences to Murray’s family.
He was a good friend to my mother, Kathy Given, and often gave her and others a ride to a community supper or a cards tournament. He gave her rides to get her vaccinations. Mom says he was everybody’s friend and will be deeply missed in the Lion’s Head area. He also always shared vegetables and rhubarb with her, which she enjoyed very much. She may have left pie at his place, or some other baked goods. The Friendship Centre was a favourite place for them to play cards, but they also went to Stokes Bay and other places. When Murray drove Mom anywhere, he always went down around the water for the scenery before taking her home.
Condolences to Robbie and to Murray’s kids and grandkids and great grandkids. We are sorry for your loss. You had a very good man to call your own.
From Bea Miller on behalf of Mom.
