Murray Walter Slezak was born on May 1, 1937, in Neepawa Manitoba. He went to school in the town of Brookdale and after completing high school took a year off school to help on the family farm. While earning his engineering degree at the University of Manitoba, Murray met and married Liz who was the love of his life and they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.
During those years, Murray obtained his Masters in Engineering from McMaster University and was officially a P. Eng in Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. He was a member of many professional associations and won several awards, including a lifetime membership in APEGA. He put his experience and education to work around the globe specializing in water and waste water engineering. Some of the highlights include working for Province of British Columbia, 8 years commuting to and from China and relocating with Liz to work for the Barbados government for 6 years where they also made lifelong friends.
After returning to Canada, Murray and Liz bought an acreage south of Calgary where Murray could have his horses, cats and room to do whatever he wanted. Murray retired in November 2004 and continued to be the humble loyal and loving man that everyone knew him to be until he left us on August 24, 2022.
Mr. Goodblender will be missed and always remembered by his loving wife Liz, his family and friends.
