Murray “Moe” Gordon Walsh, 81, of Grand
Barachois passed away on May 14, 2022, at the Moncton Hospital
following a brief illness.
Moe was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 31,
1940, to Gordon and Olive (Kincade) Walsh, where he spent his
formative years. After graduating from the University of New Brunswick
in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Moe spent a long and
varied career working in the forestry industry, which led him all
across the country. He retired from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper in
Newfoundland in 2001.
Among his many talents, Moe was an accomplished
carpenter, having built and furnished a home in Grand Barachois
following his retirement. He traveled extensively during his lifetime
and prided himself in embracing local cultures and was never afraid of
trying a new exotic dish or traveling (maybe a bit too far) off the
beaten path. He was a quick wit and a natural storyteller and made
friends easily wherever he went. When he wasn’t traveling,
Moe had a passion for the outdoors and excelled at fishing and
gardening.
Moe is survived by his wife, Barbara Walsh; daughter,
Kelly Dickinson (Hilary); two grandchildren: Alanna Dickinson
(Johnathan) and Corey Dickinson; three sisters: Irene Sutton (Daryl),
Linda Walsh and Pam Walsh (Randy); two aunts: Myrna and Beulah,
several nieces and nephews, and many
cousins.
He was predeceased by his
parents.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later
date. In Memory of Moe, a contribution to the Moncton Headstart would
be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of
Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac
(532-3297).
