MURRAY JOSPEH FITZPATRICK
With sadness, we announce the passing of our loved brother and uncle, Murray J. Fitzpatrick. Murray passed away at the Grace Hospital on February 17, 2022, at the age of 68 years old.
He is predeceased by his parents Ray and Theresa; brother in-law David Schmidt, and sister in-law Karen FItzpatrick. Murray is survived by his brothers Dave (Berthe) and Brant, sister Lynne, as well as his nieces Melissa and Kayla, and nephews Barry, Patrick and Nigel.
Murray was born on January 21, 1954, in The Pas, Manitoba. As a young boy he became involved with the Cub Scouts and carried on becoming a Scout and Eagle Scout. As a teenager he discovered music and became a lifelong devotee to new sounds. He was the family photographer, and he leaves behind many pictures, which will bring fond memories for his family. Murray had several jobs including working at Jones’ Grocery for a few years, which allowed him to travel to Europe with his pal Mervin. He installed satellite dishes on his return, and then went on to the University of Manitoba.
Murray began a career at the paper mill in The Pas, where he worked as an Instrumentation Tech until his retirement. He was always one to help the younger people whether at work or at his cottage, getting his friend Dave to help build a deck or wondering how Austen was doing. Murray was happiest at his home on Clearwater Lake with his dogs, and especially enjoyed family visits. He moved to Winnipeg in 2015 to be closer to his family.
Thanks to the Grace Hospital Emergency Room and ICU staff for making Murray’s last few days as comfortable as possible.
A celebration of Murray’s life will be held at a later date.
