In loving memory of Murray Dodge. It is with heavy hearts that Murray’s family announces his sudden passing on Sunday, September 25th, 2022, at the age of 76 years old. Murray was a loving father to Stephen Dodge, Julie Dodge Vander Baaren, Lynne vonWistinghausen, Kristan Mulligan, and Melissa Dodge and father-in-law to both Lee Mulligan and Coel Barbeau. He adored his grandchildren; Chris, Rachel, Connor, Patrick, Kenzie, Nathan, Julia, Andrew, Jayden, Ethan, Ryder, and Mavie, and great grandchildren Kaylee and Mason.
Beloved son of the late John and Agnes Dodge and brother of Charlene predeceased in 1952. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
If you were ever looking for Murray, better known as “Papa” you could be sure to find him at his home on Nepewassi Lake. Where for 27 years, he built and perfected a home for his entire family to gather. It was for certain; Murray always had a project on the go.
Papa loved to host family and friends, he made whipping up a meal for 20 look easy. His zucchini lasagna’s (all from his garden) were one of his many signature meals that everyone looked forward too.
He was a fisherman, a hunter, a gardener, an electrician, a carpenter, a baker and the list goes on. His hands built every home he owned throughout his life. It would be normal for him to be baking blueberry pies one minute and shingling his roof the next.
Murray spent his entire career at INCO in Sudbury and retired as a Superintendent after thirty plus years. Throughout his retirement he spent countless hours on various renovations and projects at Better Beginning’s Better Futures.
Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Friends may gather at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch Street, Sudbury) on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 from 4-7pm, with prayers at 5:30pm.
