SYMBALISTY, Morris (Maurice)
August 27, 1926 – May 24, 2022
With great sorrow, the family of Morris (Maurice) Symbalisty announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3:00 pm, at the age of 95 in Calgary, Alberta.
Morris accepted Christ Jesus into his heart and life at a young age – and, although he is greatly missed, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend – went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven, and this lightens our grief. Morris worked as a professional long-haul truck driver, starting his career as one of Roland Mullen’s first owner-operators; he traveled extensively across North America and was awarded the prestigious Million-Mile Safety Award during this period of his life. Morris was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, and he gave freely of his time, money, and effort. Whether helping a family stranded by the side of the road or providing wise words of encouragement and prayer – he was always there. One of Morris’s favourite bible scriptures was Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” May this be so with you.
He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 59 years, Katherine (Kay); his children, Donald Symbalisty (Audra), Denise Ward (Gary), and Bruce Symbalisty (Debbie); his brothers, William (Stella) and Eugene (Shirley); and his sister, Margaret Murray; his grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Morris’s name to Tribal Trails – First Nations people telling their life stories – tribaltrails.org.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Morris Symbalisty August 27th 1926 May 24th 2022..
