Obituary of Monica Dorothy Watson
WATSON – Monica Dorothy (nee Hodgins) passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) on Saturday August 6, 2022 at the age of 80. Monica is survived by her beloved husband Jack of almost 50 years, by her loving daughter Beverly (Pedro) Gavilanez. Predeceased by her son Christopher Watson (2019). Wonderful Nana to Isobel, Darius, Tyson, Sydney and Jude. She will be dearly missed by her brother Michael and sister-in-law Shirley Hodgins, her Brother-in law and sister-in-law Peter and Linda Watson, her Nephews and Nieces Stuart, Sarah, Hayley, Theresa, Ellis and Aiden and by her many extended family all in England. Monica was born in Leicester, England and immigrated to Canada in 1971 with her husband to be Jack. Before Monica retired, she was a loving and caring PSW at Revere Maple Crest Village. After retirement, she moved to St. Thomas with her husband to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Special thanks to the ICU staff at STEGH for the wonderful care they gave to her while she was in their care. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday August 12, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm. A celebration of life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday August 13, 2022 at 1:00pm. Cremation to follow. A reception will be held after the service at Faith Church St. Thomas 345 Fairview Ave., St. Thomas. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Salvation Army or Hospice of Elgin would be greatly appreciated. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www. sjfh.ca
