Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minette Cora Shave announces her peaceful passing, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 at her home in Stephenville, NL, at the age of 91 years.
Minette was born in Norris Point, NL, daughter of the late Edward and Jessie Major (née Headge). Minette was also predeceased by her husband Gerald; her siblings Mona (Murray) Wadden and Roland (Louise) Major; in-laws Mark (Maxine) Genge, Philip and Pearl Shave, Joshua (Joan) Shave, Norma (Carl) Major, and Grace Shave.
Minette leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children Ada Shave, Carl (Kathy) Shave, Geraldine (Gary) O’Brien, Robert (Doreen) Shave, Jim (Hilda) Shave, Tom (Susan) Shave; grandchildren Stephen (Ilda), Nicola, Nancy (Deyon), Christopher, Michelle (Santiago), Brittney (Ian), Matthew, Susan (Sheldon), Robbie; great grandchildren Alex and Melissa, Meghan and Mason, Callum and Gemma, Cody and Faith , Isla and Sawyer, and she was happily awaiting the arrival of Michelle and Santiago’s 1st baby (Manuel) due in January, 2023; siblings Carl Major, Maxine Genge, Ina Major, Kevin (Anne); in-laws Murray Wadden, Margarita (Jim) Lockhart, Louise Major; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Minette was a wonderful, loving mother to her family. She was also a huge contributor to the community of Stephenville. Minette was a 70-year founding member of the United Church Women’s group, a 54-year charter member of the Stephenville Lioness Club, a 40-year volunteer with the Terry Fox Foundation, and a contributing member in many other charitable organizations in the Stephenville area.
Respecting Minette’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held in the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Church, PO Box 591, Stephenville, NL; or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Russell’s Funeral Home.
