Melvie as she was known to everyone was a very humorous person who always enjoyed joking around & you never knew what she was going to say. She was a wonderful cook, baker, seamtress & loved to knit & crochet. She entertained many at her home over the years. Mom & Dad worked side by side building their home & took much pride in their property. No job was ever too big for Mom to tackle. She became widowed at the young age of 51 years, 11 months when drowning tragically took her husband and her first born grandchild, Jody.
She lived in her home until October of 2012 when she moved to Shirley’s Haven, Catalina. However because of her mobility, her stay was only 2 short months. On December 24, 2012, we were broken hearted when we had to move her to Golden Heights Manor where she lived until her passing. Over the years living there, I’m sure the staff have wonderful memories of her. She was always pleasant & never one to complain. She was one of the 1st founding members of the Womens Institute & stayed a member until her mobility wasn’t good. I would say her most memorable thing about the WI was the trip they took by train to Ontario. Many funny memories were made on that train ride.
Special thanks to all the Health Care Workers who took such good care of Mom over the past 9 1/2 years. She will surely be missed.
Never forget the hands that raised you. No longer by our side, but forever in our hearts.
