It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Christina (MacLeod) Huntington, Sydney, on Sunday, October 15, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born April 27, 1927, in Mulgrave, NS, she was the daughter of late Murdock and May (Nicolle) MacLeod of Mulgrave, NS.
Mildred worked in the accounting office with Canadian Tire and Progressive Wholesalers Sydney.
Mildred was a founding member of the Williston Ladies where she made many dear friends. She loved to knit and bake. Mildred and Hector loved to travel and summers were always spent on the Mira with family and friends.
Mildred is survived by nieces and nephew, Ian (Barbara) MacLeod, Elaine (Michael) Smith, Sheena Thompson, Pam (Mark) Burt and Jean (Dave) Brett; several great-nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Cullen MacLeod.
Mildred was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Hector; infant son and daughter; brother, Albert Barrie and wife Amelia; her sisters, Alice Curry and husband, Don and Jessie; and nephew, Glenn Curry.
A funeral service will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11a.m. with Rev. Dr. Tommy Whent officiating, followed by a reception. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of one’s choice.
