Obituary of Mieke Hare
Mieke Hare (nee Broere) of Tofield, Alberta passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2022 a the age of 71 years, after a long battle with MS.
Mieke was born in Medan, Indonesia on February 7th, 1950. She immigrated to Canada with her family and settled in Wetaskiwin in 1957. This is where she met Dave, and they were married on August 29, 1970. They moved to Tofield in May 1979 and built the Tofield IGA. She continued to build the business with Dave until her retirement in 2000. Throughout much of her life, she was very fond of travelling, family gatherings, and socializing in general.
She leaves behind Dave, her husband of 51 years; her children David (Marou) and Metieke (Sheldon); grandchildren Jessee, Nikki, and Georgina; brother Hans (Carol); brothers-in-law Doug (Judy) and Dennis (Lori); sisters-in-law Maureen (JR), Marilyn (Tom), and Darlene (Roger); as well as the many nieces and nephews on both her and her husband’s side of the family. She is predeceased by her parents, Johannes and Maria.
There will be a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Tofield Community Hall with Rev Adam Hall officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to the MS Society of Canada or the Tofield Ag Society.
