It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Michael Tait at the age of 61 years on February 11, 2022, in Airdrie, AB. Michael was born in Dalbeattie, Scotland on August 26, 1960 and immigrated to Canada to with his family at a young age. Michael lived in Ontario and British Columbia before moving and settling in Alberta.
In 1986 Michael moved to Eckville, Albert and this is where he raised his family until the year 2000 when he relocated to Airdrie until his passing. Michael worked hard to support his family working for Asty Concrete then Maf-Worx as a foreman. Michael had many work friends who he thought of and who thought fondly of him. Michael was an excellent father who loved his children and grandchildren dearly. Michael was a good person who had the ability to make anyone laugh, he liked picking fruit in his young years in B.C. to earn extra money. He had a joy and passion for cars namely his 1973 Camaro, he also liked watching car racing, boxing and in early years stampede wrestling. He enjoyed like fishing, had a love for horses, was an excellent cook and loved doing it, boating, and swimming in his younger years in the Okanagan.
He also enjoyed renovating his houses, like paintings and prints of wildlife often mentioning Robert Bateman as being a favorite.
Michael is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter, Michelle Tait (Tim Dow) and their children, Christian, Timothy, Haylee, and Alyssa; son, Michael Tait (Jill Yan; daughter, Marissa Tait (Jaimie Palmer) and their children, Layla, Jaxon and Penny. He also leaves behind his lifelong companion of 37 years Brenda Tait; his father, William Tait; sister, Margaret Wirachowsky (Wayne); brothers, Wilson Tait, George Tait; and half-brother, Peter; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michael was predeceased by both sets of grandparents and his mother, Isabel Tait in 2021, and sister-in-law, Pearl Tait. A gathering to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at the Nose Creek Valley Museum on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 11:00 am – 2:00 PM.
