Michael Stevenson passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side February 15, 2022. Michael was the first born of triplets to Jim and Eira Stevenson on November 23, 1954 along with Philip, and Susan, and a few years later Robert. They were all born in Coventry England.
Michael enjoyed his childhood playing in the ruins of the Coventry Cathedral and playing with his cousins on their visits to Wales. When Michael was 11 years old, his family travelled on the USS United States from England to land in New York, New York. He was in awe of the Statue of Liberty. They then boarded a bus to San Francisco, and from there travelled to San Diego where they began a new chapter of their life. Michael completed his education at Patrick Henry High School.
Though not a US citizen, Michael joined the USA Air Force at 18 years old. He was deployed to Cambodia to run the power plants and was there during the Cambodian pull out. Although he was proud to serve his adopted country this experience was something that Michael struggled with for the rest of his life. Upon his return he was employed at the San Diego State University. This is where he met his first wife, Victoria, and they were blessed with a son, Michael James. Unfortunately, Victoria passed away when Mikey was young.
Michael came to Canada a few years later when his Dad took ill. It was during this time that Michael’s father introduced him to Patti. After his father’s passing, he decided he would stay in Canada and bring his son up to begin another new adventure. Michael and Patti soon married, and he inherited two stepchildren, Dennis, and Carla.
Michael found employment in the Oilfield and construction industry. He worked until he was no longer able and retired due to ill health. Michael had many passions over the years, surfing, fishing, gardening, woodworking, going to concerts, holidays in California, but his favourite one was spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael was predeceased by his sister Susan in infancy, parents Jim and Eira, and brother Robert. He is survived by his loving wife, Patti, son Michael (Haley and children Westlyn, Beckett and Dawson), stepson Dennis (Courtney and children Berkley and Noah) and Carla (children Mack and Chance). He is also survived by his brother Phillip of San Diego, as well as his family in Wales, Anne & Wayne, Colin & Beverly, Alun and Theresa, Niel and Helen and their families and his cousin Malcom and Jackie and their family in Florida. He is also survived by many special friends he kept in contact with throughout his life, Dallas, Ralphe, Ed, Charlie and Pete from California and those he befriended in Canada.
