Michael Mike Eyre Davis 2022

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Michael ‘Mike’ Eyre Davis passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Mike was born in Oakville, Ontario on May 6, 1938, son of Eyre and Louise Davis and brother to Sally and Lee. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 59 years, Julie, daughters Charlene and Eyren, son-in-law Mark and grandson Gavin. Mike (aka Gunner, Heavy, JB, Bompi) was a gregarious, fun-loving and genuine personality who built a successful career in sales. He was instrumental in establishing Junior Hockey in Oakville and served on the Executive of the Oakville Blades during the club’s early years. During his retirement in the country, Mike and ‘his goldens’ dedicated their time as volunteers with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program. In addition to hockey, his lifelong passions included fishing, duck hunting, the Toronto Argonauts, golfing, his dogs and most of all visiting with his friends. His role as grandfather to Gavin, however, trumped all as his proudest achievement in life. The family extends its sincere gratitude for all the support received over the last several years, with special mention to their friends at 148 Third Street condominium, the VON Northumberland Adult Day Centre and Palisade Gardens. They also wish to thank the staff and volunteers in the Palliative Care Unit at the Northumberland Hills Hospital for their incredible compassion and care for Mike during his final days. We believe that wherever Mike is, the sun is shining, the fish are biting, the red wine is flowing, and he is reunited with his dogs and best friends. A private family service will be held at a later date.
