Michael Jarvis
1952-2022
Michael Stephen Jarvis, October 20, 1952-June 20, 2022 passed away
peacefully at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a brave
battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Carol (Dagg) Jarvis; son
David Roy Jarvis (Kim) Windsor, Nova Scotia; daughter Jennifer Buder
(Mark), South Frontenac, Ontario. Sister and brother, Brenda Holland
(Philip), Glenwood, N.B.; Leslie Jarvis (Florence), Kiersteadville,
N.B.; Sister-in-laws, Linda Dagg (Ken); Susan Dagg; and mother-in-law,
Isobel Dagg, Toronto, Ontario.
Predeceased by his parents Maxine and Roy Jarvis, sister Carolyn
Johnson and baby brother Royden.
Sergeant Michael Stephen Jarvis was a member of the R.C.M.P. for over
30 years in Southern Ontario and Headquarters, Ottawa but he was more
than a Mountie: He was a loving husband, father, brother,
brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, Christian, friend, golfer, world
traveler, Deputy Mayor, writer, author, gardener, volleyball coach
(Sarg), Police Olympic Volleyball gold medalist, volunteer, lover of
music, an all-round “gentleman”. His talents were
endless.
On retirement in 2002 from the R.C.M.P where he traveled nationally
and internationally, Mike returned to his hometown of Plaster Rock for
15 years. While living there, he supported Carol who attended UNB in
her quest for an education degree. He immersed himself in
contributing to the community as a Plaster Rock United Baptist member
and volunteer, Village Councillor, Deputy Mayor, Tobique Lion Member,
Assistant Superintendent of the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery,
volunteer for the Donald Fraser Breakfast Program, Coach for the
Middle School Tobique Panther volleyball boys’ team, author of
the historical fiction book ‘G-3105’.
A move to Fredericton enabled closer access to the airport where Mike
and Carol began the amazing journey of traveling the world together:
two River Cruises along the Rhine, Main and Danube; two Ocean Cruises,
Barcelona to Bergen and Iceland and just prior to the pandemic,
Santiago Chile to Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast. Condo living
at Golf Greens provided a great way to live, travel and be part of an
amazing community. Golf was another of Mike’s passions while in
Fredericton as he was a member of the Kingswood Golf Course and golfed
regularly with the “Fab Four”. Mike has said that
“God puts us where we need to be when we need to be
there”. Being in Fredericton allowed him to be in close
proximity to the hospital so that he had ready access to the
technology and health services that he needed in the last 10 months
and Carol was in close proximity to support him daily.
Our thanks to the Grace Memorial Baptist congregation for their
support and prayers, R.C.M.P. Veterans of Association of Fredericton;
1 Golf Greens Lane Condo caring community; loving friends Terry and
Paula Ryan, Gail and Blair DeGrace; Michael Clarke, nurse
practitioner; Fredericton Extramural nurses; dedicated nursing staff
and Palliative Care physicians on 3E who continue to work tirelessly
during this stressful time and Dr. Barry Wecker of Plaster Rock.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fredericton Homeless
Shelter, Donald Fraser Memorial School breakfast program, or the Grace
Memorial Baptist Church Organ Refurbishment project,
A committal service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11 am
at the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery. Rev. Lorne Freake officiating.
A reception will be held at the Plaster Rock United Baptist Church
hall following the service. All are welcome to attend.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who
believes in Me, though they may die, he shall live. And whoever lives
and believes in Me shall never die.” John 11:25
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Michael Jarvis 19522022..
Death notice for the town of: Plaster Rock, Province: Nouveau-Brunswick
We only knew Mike for a few years at Golf Greens but he showed everyone here that he was a true gentleman. Always positive and will to help anyone out at anytime. He made our community a better place just by his presence.
Rest In Peace Mike. Gentlemen like you are few and far between.
Sympathies to Carol and family for you loss.
It is with great sadness that I have learned of Mike’s passing. Such a loss to humanity from an individual who embraced the principle of giving back at a very young age. He epitomized the role of a leader in several facets of his life. Driven by his commitment to continuously make it better, his contribution to the RCMP was remarkable. You left this world way too early Mike but I am confident that you will continue to make a difference from a distance. Sincere condolences to Carol, David and Jennifer.
Carol and family, we received a call last night from another long time friend, Ed Daley, letting us know of Mike’s passing.
Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. Our sincerest condolences.
Wishing you peace, comfort, strength and love.
