Obituary
Michael Anthony Oliver, 79, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Dublin, Ireland to Jack Oliver and Mary Daly on July 22, 1943. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years serving as Grand Knight from 1986 through 1987, and was involved with the Canadian Soccer Association in an array of capacities, eventually being presented with an Award of Merit from the CSA in 2009. He retired as a Calgary Transit bus driver in 2008 after 16 years of service.
Michael is survived by his wife Lillian; his two sons Michael (Daphne) and Stephen (Yvonne); his two grandchildren Aiden and Ashley; and his siblings Brian, Marie, Joan, and Catherine. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack Oliver and Mary Daly.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 34 St SW) at 11:00am. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Prayers will be held at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services (5502 2 Street SW) on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 6:00pm.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many healthcare professionals who attended to Michael with great skill, care, and compassion over the past few months.
