Obituary of Melvin Clarence Cress
Cress, Melvin Clarence: It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin on May 30, 2022 at the Annapolis Community Health Centre. He was born on September 1, 1947 to the late Sydney and Leta Cress. He attended school at Oakdene School in Bear River and Digby Regional High School. After graduating he worked at the Digby Metropolitan Store before going to Canex at CFB Cornwallis where he worked until it closed. He was a great care giver to his mother Leta and sister Frances Fetter. Melvin was a great one for doing volunteer work in Bear River, especially the Bear River and Area Health Clinic. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by the residents of Riverside Manor in Bear River. Melvin loved playing badminton at Oakdene School and a friendly game of cards with friends at A.E. Riley’s workshop.
He is survived by a half brother John Cress, nieces: Wanda Trimper, Cheryl Amouri, nephews Glen Rice, Kevin Fetter and Randy Fetter. Also uncles Lionel Cress and Don Cress, many cousins and special friends Eric Cox and Kathryn Brown. Besides his parents he was predeceased by half brothers Maurice Rice, Theodore Rice and half sister Frances Fetter. The family would like to thank Dr. Ashley McCormick and the palliative care unit at the Annapolis Community Health Centre for their care and kindness to Melvin. As per Melvin’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. June 11, 2022 in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River with Rev. Mark Elly officiating.
