Obituary
It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that the family of the late Melvin Reid of Dildo announces his passing at the age of 60 years. Melvin passed away in the presence of his family at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, January 14, 2022, after a brief but courageously fought battle with cancer.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, Noah and Margaret Reid; and grandson, Jackson.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife of 37 years, Joan; son, Steven (Trish) of Smithville, Ontario; daughter, Janine (Ryan) Lovell of Proton Station, Ontario; brother, Derick; sisters, Marie (Nelson) Hefford, Gladys (Conway) Stead, and Jackie (Perry) Eddy; three grandchildren, his pride and joy, Elliotte, Brycen, and Logan; brothers-in-law, John (Fran) Murphy and James (Jennifer) Murphy; parents-in-law, Eunice and Allister Reid; nieces, Carolann, Jackie, Sarah, Laura, and Leanne; nephews, Danny, Michael, and Evan; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Private visitation for close family and friends will be on Monday, January 17 and Tuesday, January 18. Please contact a family member or the funeral home for times of visitation on these days.
In order to maintain social distancing and to follow the public health advisory of Covid-19, Alert Level 4, this will be a walk through only, one household bubble at a time, and proof of vaccination is required. Everyone is asked to sign the contact-tracing sheet upon entering the building and masks are required. Due to Covid-19, no food is permitted in the funeral home.
A service to celebrate Melvin’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 19 at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel TBS Corps and will be by invitation only; masks are mandatory and vaccine pass with photo ID will be required. The service will also be streamed live via salvationarmytbs.ca/funeral.
Interment to follow at Salvation Army Cemetery, Dildo.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Melvin’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.

It has been many years since we have seen Melvin & family, as so often happens, we lose contact with family & friends with all of our own lives. With this in mind I would like to offer our sympathy to Melvin’s family, and to Derick, Marie, Gladys and Jackie from the only two remaining family members of Edward & Beatrice Reid – that is Muriel Hinkle and Shirley Fudge.
