With family at his side, Melvin passed away on June 8, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Herman and Martha Burns (Storey). He was born on January 8, 1933 in Doaktown, New Brunswick. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Melvin is survived by his nieces, Dorothy Wentworth (Doug), Marie Dumas (Yvan), Carolyn Hetherington (Blake), Wanda Brown (Greg), Marilyn Brennan and Heather Holland (Chris); nephews, Calvin Palmer (Tracy), Eric Palmer, Colin Storey (Peggy), Joey Brennan (Wanda), Brian Storey (Tabitha Munn) and Glenn Burns; sister-in-law Elizabeth Storey.
Predeceased by his parents; sisters, Janie Palmer (Hubert) and Mary Brennan (Joe); brothers, Crumley Burns, Tennyson Storey and Johnny Hatfield.
As per Melvin’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated by the family.
