Melvin’s Obituary
We are absolutely heartbroken to announce the passing of an extraordinary man, Melvin Pollard, who passed peacefully away with his loving wife by his side on March 13th, 2022 at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook.
Originally from Roddickton – him and his family moved to Stephenville, where his parents had settled, in 1987. Melvin was a larger than life man who loved everyone! He always loved a great yarn – full of wisdom, stories and a vast knowledge.
He loved his entire family dearly (we were ALL number one to him ) and he was always so proud of his children and grandchildren in everything they did. He ensured the Lord Jesus was the center of our lives.
Everyone was welcome in his and Triffey’s home, he would shout “come on in, come on in by”. Melvin had a big appreciation for the small things in life that we often overlook and was always grateful for everything – which inspired others to see that too. He certainly passed this trait on to his loved ones.
He really enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with his family and friends, as well as outings in the woods with a good boil up, moose hunting, being surrounded by nature, and going for coffees and visits with his buddies.
He will be missed so much by his family, friends and many people as he was such a familiar face in our community. Our hearts are broken but we are comforted knowing he is with the Lord until we are reunited again.
He leaves to mourn with many loving memories: wife Triffey; son Jeff (Chantille) of Ottawa; daughters: Tammie (Keon) and Jacinta (Josh), both of Stephenville; grandchildren: Timothy, Emma, Olivia, Alec, Lucas, Max, Lexi, Nathan, and Alaya; brothers: Kevin (Linda) of Springdale, Sterling (Wanda) of Stephenville, and Bruce (Rex) of St. John’s; and sisters: Judy (Chris) of Ottawa, Kathy (Henry) of Bide Arm, and Debbie (Pat) of Stephenville; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Melvin was predeceased by: parents Samuel and Audrey; and grandson Timothy Pollard.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 17th at Russell’s Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18th at 10:00 AM from Zion Pentecostal Church, Stephenville. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
