Obituary
Melba Madeline Doane, 95 years of age, of Surf Lodge Nursing Home, Lockeport, formerly of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Lodge. Born in Shag Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah “Jeremy & Gertrude (Nickerson) Watkins.
Melba worked for Canada Post and as a book keeper for many years. She was a member of the Barrington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping and going down to Maine for shopping trips.
Melba will be sadly missed by her son, Robert Jeffrey (Beverly); grandsons, Arthur (Erin), Adam (Nicole); great grand kids, Ethan, Abby, Izaak & Benjamin.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Brenton; infant son, David; sisters, Margaret Greenwood, Oneita Shand, Thelma Cleveland, Kathleen Shand, Mildred Nickerson, brother, Edward Watkins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Surf Lodge for their care and compassion for mom these past three years.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at the River Dale Cemetery, River Head on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2 p.m.
