McLelan-Walsh – Sandra Pauline, age 81, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Springhill, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Gerald Wilson and Miriam (Chapman) McLelan.
Sandra attended Acadia University and graduated from Teachers College in Truro before teaching many students over the years in the old Milton School. Sandra was an active volunteer in the community throughout her lifetime. She was most passionate about Queens General Hospital, having served on the hospital board while also serving as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Sandra was also a member of the Pilgrim United Church Ladies Auxiliary. Above all else, Sandra was most passionate about her family and spending time with them, especially her granddaughter, Grace, who was the apple of her eye. She was a vibrant lady who embraced life and all its challenges with strength and dignity. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John Michael; daughter, Margo Walsh-Leaman (Mark Leaman) of Liverpool; granddaughter, Grace Leaman; sister, Carol (Dr. Ernest) Ewaschuk of Oakville, Ontario; sister in law, Lane McLelan of Chester; many nieces and nephews.
Sandra was predeceased by a brothers, Hugh and Thomas and his wife Nancy.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception, all from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Peter Anthony officiating. Burial will be held in the Brooklyn Community Cemetery, Highway #3, Brooklyn.
