MCGRATH DONALD HERBERT 2022

Life long farmer, Donald McGrath, born March 12, 1933 passed away on July 22, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born at the homestead on Baseline Road in Elmvale. He assisted his parents on their farm until he purchased the farm next door. He was a loving, devoted husband to Lorna (Strath) for 63 years.
He will be sorrowly missed by his daughters: Bonnie McGill-Ploeg; Julie (Mike) Trace; Sheila, late Kelly and Mae (Daryl) Senick. Loving Gramps to 6 grand children and 6 great grand children.
He also leaves behind his siblings: late Beverley (Marion); Rodney (Nancy); late Joanne (Beverley) (Carolyn) Rawson; Brian (Sandy) (late Joanne Bishop); and brother-in-law, Cameron (Marie) Strath. Missed by his many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give thanks to all the caregivers at Waterside and Sara Vista who enriched Dad’s life. Without the dedicated health care professionals we could not have weathered the storm. In the last few years dementia set in. As Jann Arden said in her recent book “it (was) a long goodbye”.
His family and friends will miss his twinkling eyes, laugh, tenor voice, jokes and gentle, genuine ways.
Let the talks about crops, the harmonica tunes, crokinole and card games being as you meet up with your heavenly family and friends.
“May the rain fall gently on your fields”
Visitation will be Tuesday August 2nd at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9.
Interment Elmvale Cemetery at a later date.
If desired memorial donations can be made to the Elmvale Food Bank, Friends of Sara Vista, or a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of MCGRATH DONALD HERBERT 2022..
